Project Context
This first-of-its-kind installation at Toronto Pearson International Airport was conceived while I was waiting to board a flight in Terminal 1. I began to imagine how this vast commuter space could be reimagined as a democratic, public-facing art museum. At the time, I was curating for the CONTACT Photography Festival and actively seeking opportunities to engage new audiences while cultivating relationships with our sponsors.

Our Solution
In partnership with photographer Eamon Mac Mahon, we transformed this commuter space into an immersive visual experience. Suspended above the moving sidewalk, Mac Mahon’s large-scale aerial photographs of Canada’s remote landscapes were contextual to people travelling by air, and positioned our partners as forward-thinking champions of public art. Together, we reshaped Pearson from a point of transit into a cultural gateway, offering a new perspective on the Canadian identity.
