Project Context
Zibi is one of the more unique properties we’ve worked on. Based in Ottawa / Gatineau, it is a master-planned community built over a river that traverses both Ontario and Quebec. Their commitment to improve the way Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous private sector companies work together is integral to their work, and was the key directive we considered as we approached the curation for Aalto, the first in their series of purpose built, direct-to-rental properties in the Zibi community.

Our Solution
Working in partnership with a women-led council of Algonquin Anishinaabe advisors from the region, we selected artworks that were a reflection of the bold vision and ambition of the Zibi development. The work we chose gave precedent to young, emerging first nations artists who were breaking new territory, using an independent voice, and whose work tells their unique story about contemporary life. We also selected work by up-and-coming regional artists, to hang in harmony together within the shared space.
