Project Context
Building on the success of our initial public art installation at Pearson Airport, this project set out to create an intervention that functioned like a museum experience—accessible, democratic, and immersive—within one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs. The aim was to generate impact on multiple levels: for travelers, for the artist, and for both our sponsors and institutional partners.
Our Solution
In collaboration with Toronto artist and architect Michael Awad—one of Canada’s leading innovators in photographic technology—we transformed the bridges connecting arrivals to security gates in Terminal 1 into a sweeping visual narrative of air travel. With rare access to secure areas, Awad created four panoramic images, each distilling a different leg of the journey into a single frame: the drive from downtown, the luggage path from check-in to cargo hold, taxiing on the runway, and the aircraft interior. The result was a striking, site-specific installation that reimagined the airport as a place of cultural exchange and human connection—remaining on view for years beyond its original duration.
